I'm HotdogNoire! In the day I run a small software company making educational tools... By night I work on my passion project: Copper Trader!
I've always loved making games, since I was a sprout, but I've never been proficient at game dev or found a project that motivates me enough to want to work on it with every bit of my free time.
Copper Trader is just not coming out any time soon and it will never be complete! Maybe in a few years there will be an alpha version, but it's a long-time passion project that I want to evolve constantly, to be the ultimate third-person-immersive-life-sim-thing.
One of the reasons why it'll take so long is that I have zero proficiency, knowledge or talent making game music, creating textures, rigging & animating models, making models in blender... etc. Yet I plan to do all of this, yes every single thing, myself. Copper Trader is just as much a personal journey as it is a game.
The CSDK is another reason. With every new game system/feature there is an update to the CSDK, it's designed to be a complete in-engine interface for creating, building and modifying everything within the glorious archipelago of Gūr. A lot of my inspiration for how Copper Trader is built/functions comes from TES Morrowind's Construction Set as I used to screw around with that a bunch as a kid and it just makes sense for me to build a CS like framework to build copper trader.
A good example of this is how the world of Gūr is divided into cells!
I hope to release the CSDK alongside the game, so people can easily create mods for Copper Trader in the future.
Whenever it does release, it will be 100% free so mark down 2055 on ye Iruian calendars!!
