Copper Trader

a showcase of the Copper SDK, the in-engine editor

Copper SDK

Copper SDK or CSDK is my plugin for Godot that acts as an ‘editor’ for all things Copper Trader.

What you’re seeing below is an early screenshot of the CSDK’s Cell Editor. The world of Gūr is divided into 1028 cells, each of which have a plethora of options to tie them into the game world, such as setting a faction, regional wealth, primary traded good, agression towards player etc.

Once a cell is opened, it can be viewed in the editor and have assets placed onto it. Multiple cells can be referenced & opened at a time to build larger outposts and cities.

Cells are loaded and unloaded dynamically and have LOD meshes to be able to better allocate resources to background simulation.

The whole map can be viewed with every cell loaded too! What you can see below is a cell being loaded and edited.

As you can see in image one, there is a plethora of features in the CSDK to assist in the easy building and managing of game content. Its a pretty nifty thing to have when you’re the kind of person that just wants to make things!
